Kia does know how to make a show for itself. The Korean brand has been looking to enter segments that either have no or less competition. This year, the brand introduced a 7-seater variant of the Sonet for Indonesia. Now, the brand is set to disrupt the market again. In India, the brand is expected to bring an MPV that will take on cars the emerging 7 seater market. Maybe being electric will be unique for the brand here. Recently, an electric 7-seater expected to be based on the Kia Seltos was spotted testing in South Korea. If this car does manage to enter the market, it will surely be a lucrative option for customers that are considering switching from conventional cars to electric cars. In today’s article, we will discuss this Kia Seltos 7-seater electric car that has been spotted.
What could this product be?
A big 7-seater EV, expected to be based on the Kia Seltos has been spotted. The car is touted to be called the EV4 or EV5. The test mule, although being heavily camouflaged, does reveal some elements which clearly hint that this vehicle will be really sporty looking product from Kia. The rear bumper looks really cool with black accents. A sporty rear diffuser is also visible. In terms of dimensions, the car will be 4.3m in length, making it equal to the Kia Seltos. Even the MG ZS EV is 4.3m long. That said, this 7-seater electric vehicle would surely be unique to the competition as this will offer more seating space in the cabin. But like the Sonet 7 seater that was shown in south Asian markets it would then be not under sized for India where 7 seaters are currently measuring about 4.5mm The car will come sat on the brand’s new E-GMP dedicated EV platform.
The Kia Seltos 7-seater electric car is expected to come with options of single and dual-motor configurations. Also, multiple battery sizes are expected to be made available with power outputs reaching up to 239kW in some configurations.
When could this Seltos 7-seater electric car launch?
This EV is expected to launch somewhere around next year in foreign markets. As far as India is concerned, we do not have any official information regarding the launch plans, so stating anything at this point in time will be unjustified. Like the Sonet 7 seater, this car if not big in size for the Indian market could only be South Asian countries. With that being said, we hope Kia brings this vehicle to India as it would surely be a strong product for the Indian market.
