Honda

Upcoming affordable hybrid cars

Honda could be one of the very first brands to bring an affordable hybrid in the country. Currently, the brand sells some hybrid products in foreign markets; Honda City hybrid being one of them. We expect the brand to launch the hybrid variant of the City by the end of this year. Other than the City, we expect Honda to launch the HR-V in the country which will be placed against the Hyundai Creta. The HR-V comes with a hybrid setup in foreign markets. We expect Honda to retain this characteristic when bringing it to India.

Upcoming affordable hybrid cars

Tata has quickly moved forward in bringing the technology of the future to the customers here. We are talking about the Nexon EV. Now, the brand has been readying petrol engines for the Harrier & the Safari. With both cars being based on the Omega-Arc platform, we expect Tata to bring the cars with hybrid tech as well. The electric infrastructure is already in place with the brand and the brand could couple it with the upcoming engines.

Hyundai as a brand is known to offer great value-for-money products. Hyundai enhances the value with multiple features and engine & transmission configurations. The Korean brand in foreign markets offers its products like the new i20 with hybrid tech. The 1.0-litre engine comes paired with a 48V hybrid system, mated to manual, iMT and DCT gearboxes. We expect Hyundai to bring this technology to India as well. Products like i20, Tucson and next-gen Venue are expected to be offered with this technology.
