Volkswagen Taigun has been spotted again. This time the vehicle has been spotted with four other Volkswagen vehicles which were being tested. We are expecting this SUV to come to the market real soon. In this article, we are going to tell you about all the important things that we know about this vehicle.

Platform

The Volkswagen Taigun is based on the Skoda Kushaq. It is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. This platform is part of the VW group 2.0 plan. We are expecting a good amount of safety from this platform as the Skoda is provided with an active electronic stability program right from the base variant. The cars we have spotted here are camouflaged and are also LHD units on test.

Engine

The Volkswagen Taigun will come with two engine options. Both these engines will be turbo petrol units. One will be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI unit. This will make 115 bhp of power and 175 Nm of torque. The other engine is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine which will make 150 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. We can see both these engines on the Skoda Kushaq too. There will be six-speed manual gearbox options on both engines whereas the automatic gearbox on the smaller engine will be a torque converter and the bigger engine will get a seven-speed DCT transmission.

Design

The Volkswagen Taigun has a very close resemblance to the Skoda Kushaq. From the sides, both are a serious look almost the same. The front and rear bumpers of these SUVs have been changed to create and match the brand identity. There is two slat chrome grille at the time and chrome inserts on the lower part of the bumper. The rear gets a tail light that runs across the tailgate. There is a chrome accent on the rear bumper too. The design is not super unique but it is enough to rival the Hyundai Creta which is the segment leader currently.

We could also expect automatic climate control, wireless charging and many other creature comforts.

Rivals

Volkswagen Taigun is expected to rival the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan kicks, Renault Duster and MG Hector. We can also see that it will rival the Skoda Kushaq which is almost the same vehicle. The Kushaq has been launched at Rs 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes till 17.6 lakhs. So we expect the pricing to be close to the Kushaq.
