The fifth-largest car manufacturer in the country is betting huge on the future.

They recently revealed their road-map for 2020 against the backdrop of the launch of their all-new, entry hatchback – the Zica. It is now learned that the car manufacturer has ceased production of its aging Manza sedan and the Vista hatchback, cutting-off the last of its ties with the past.

The previous generation Nano had been discontinued the year before, while the Indica hatchback and the Indigo sedan are only available for institutional sales. Demand for the Manza as well as the full-size Indigo together with the Vista had been dwindling, with zero cars finding a buyer since July this year.

Meanwhile the Indica and the sub-four metre compact sedan, Indigo eCS shall continue in production as both models still command a following in the taxi segment. According to Mr. Girish Wagh, Senior Vice-President of Programme Planning and Management for Passenger Cars at Tata Motors mentioned that production of the two cars was still a viable proposition in-comparison to the Manza and the Vista.

Mr. Wagh also said, that, “We have a clear focus on the commercial user and we will continue to have specific products for him developed with different attributes in mind”. The current lineup of new generation passenger cars like the Bolt, the Zest and the Zica shall exclusively be for retail customers.

Commercial customers shall therefore have to make do with the Indica in CNG and Diesel variants along with the Indigo eCS.
