Skoda’s portfolio had been stagnant for a while in the country after the BS6 emission norms were brought into action. However, the brand is getting back on track and is readying itself for the expansion of its line-up here. The brand recently launched its premium sedan, the Octavia and we are expecting 3 more launches from the brand in the coming time. Recently, Zac Hollis, while answering some questions of a prospective buyer revealed some important developments regarding one of the upcoming products. In today’s article, we will discuss what is coming in terms of expanding the line-up of Skoda India cars.

Skoda cars we want in India

Skoda Rapid

Skoda India cars line-up

Skoda Rapid has been a constant presence in the brand’s line-up for quite some time now. This sedan initiates Skoda’s portfolio for the country. The car takes on products like previous-gen Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Toyota Yaris and comes loaded with all important features. The Rapid starts at Rs 9.07 Lakh, meaning you get to experience superior build quality and an upmarket cabin for under Rs 10 Lakh. Read on to know some more important information regarding the Rapid.

Skoda Slavia

Skoda Slavia is the product that is being talked a lot about in the country. There was confusion regarding whether the Skoda Slavia is an update for the Rapid or is a completely new offering from the brand. Zac Hollis has cleared this air of confusion. He said that the Slavia is not an update for the Rapid. In fact, the brand has no plans to update the Rapid as of now; rather, the Slavia will be the mid-size sedan from the brand that will sit above the Rapid and will serve as a bridge between the Rapid and the Octavia. Zac Hollis has also confirmed that the Slavia will be unveiled by the end of the year. The new-gen Honda City would surely need to take note of this.

We expect the current Rapid to remain on sale as an entry level Skoda.

Skoda Octavia

The brand recently launched the new-gen Skoda Octavia in the country. The Octavia has been a product that defines ‘premium’ in the segment that it competes in. The new Octavia gets a modern design which gives it a much sharper look. The car also gets features like a passive entry for 2nd-row, remote folding seats, Shift by Wire technology, a two-spoke steering wheel, Virtual Cockpit and many other features that make it a one-of-a-kind offering in its segment. The car now comes powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that makes close to 190bhp and 320Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Skoda Superb

Skoda Superb 2020

Skoda Superb is the most expensive sedan that Skoda sells in the country. The car looks every bit premium, suitable for people who love to be chauffeur-driven and enjoy sitting in the 2nd-row. The car comes powered by the same engine that powers the new Octavia. The 2nd-row comfort is exceptional in the Superb, placing it in the top league when it comes to comfortable cars in its price bracket.

Skoda Kushaq

Skoda Kushaq will be the next product from the brand in the country. The car is set to launch on the 28th of June. Kushaq is a C-segment SUV that will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other cars available in the segment. The car will also be the cheapest available SUV from the brand. We have written multiple articles on the Skoda Kushaq which you can read on the website. The latest article has been linked below for you to check out.

Skoda Kodiaq is a premium SUV offering from the brand. The car was available in the country during the BS4 era but had to be discontinued due to the strict BS6 norms. The brand will now be bringing the updated Kodiaq which will come powered by a BS6 compliant engine. Skoda is expected to launch the Kodiaq after the Kushaq is launched. Also, the car is mostly expected to come before Slavia is introduced in the country. The car once launched will compete with products like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Altura G4, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and MG Gloster.
