Yamaha FZX launched – Spec, Features and Price
Yamaha FZX has been finally launched for the year 2021. The Yamaha bike had been spotted testing and during its TVC shoot and today the bike has been launched for a price of Rs 1,16,800 (ex-showroom). Here is all you need to know about the all-new Yamaha FZX.
Design
As you can see the design of this bike reminds me of the XSR 155 that Yamaha sells in the international market. The reason behind not calling this bike the XSR is that it does not have the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine that we see on the Yamaha R15 & MT15. The overall design includes a boxy fuel tank and a round headlight the seat section is narrow and it ends quite where the wheel ends giving the rear look of the bike a sporty feel. The bike has a retro-modern feel that can be seen with the help of the upright handlebar flat seat and a radiator guard. The slightly upswept exhaust also add to this retro-modern look. It gets the alloy wheel design from the Yamaha R15. Overall if you look at the design of the bike that is the key highlight over here and we think that Yamaha has focused more on the design that influences buying in this segment.
Specifications
The bike gets a 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes a power of 12 bhp and 13.3 Nm of torque. This is the same engine that you get on the Yamaha FZ FI series. Yamaha FZX engine is not the key highlight but it is quite a reliable 150cc engine in the Indian bike market. The engine is paired to a five-speed gearbox that allows for decent highway speeds.
Suspension & Braking
Yamaha FZX at the front has a telescopic suspension setup and the rear gets a mono-shock similar to that on the FZ. It is a 7-step adjustable Mono-Cross suspension unit that allows for preload adjustability.
Braking on this bike is handled with a 282 mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear disc brake. The brakes are adequate for the power that this engine produces and the single-channel ABS set up from Yamaha is quite good.
Dimensions
The overall length of this bike is 2020mm. It is 785mm wide and 1115mm tall. This makes the bike 30mm longer and 35mm taller than the FZ. The FZX also has a longer wheelbase at 1333mm.
Features & Colours
In terms of features, the Yamaha FZX gets a lot of Bluetooth features. You can compare your riding score to other people on the Yamaha App. Also, there are notifications for malfunctions, oil change and battery level. The Yamaha FZX can be bought in three colours that are Matte orange, Matte Black and Matte blue.
Rivals
The FZX will rival a lot of new 150cc bikes. In terms of design as of now, there is no rival to this retro-modern design. If you consider the Husqvarna they might rival this bike in terms of only design. Those bikes are way more powerful than the FZX and the price of both is quite high. At this price, the FZX becomes a fresh pick for those who want to buy the FZ but were hesitant because of its dated design.
