The Land Cruiser as a nameplate holds a legacy in itself. The Land Cruiser represents durability, toughness, muscular road presence and serious off-roading capability. Toyota has improved the car with its every update and the same has been done this time as well. Toyota unveiled the new-generation Land Cruiser (LC300) globally. The car comes with some new elements which are really exciting. In this article, we will discuss 5 new things about the new-generation Toyota Land Cruiser.
Engine & Transmission
The biggest addition in the new-generation Land Cruiser is a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and a 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine. The petrol unit will be capable of making 409bhp & 649Nm of torque. The diesel unit, on the other hand, will be able to churn out 302bhp and 700Nm of torque. Also, the SUV will now come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox which will also help in reducing fuel consumption.
New-generation Toyota Land Cruiser suspension
The suspension on the new car has been further improved to tackle every possible rough terrain. The car now gets the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension Setup which comes with improved wheel articulation, enabling the SUV to sustain better contact with the road. Also, this system improves the stability of the car by reducing the tilt while sharp turning, improving overall safety as well.
This is one of the coolest features of the new-generation land Cruiser. The car now gets a fingerprint scanner which acts as an advanced safety feature. The SUV will now only get into action once the fingerprint is registered and verified.
The previous-generation car felt a bit outdated when it came to the interiors. However, with the new update, the car gets a completely re-worked interior. The dashboard looks more busy yet modern now. The car now comes loaded with features like a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a powered tailgate, multi-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, an underbody camera, a semi-digital instrument cluster, heated & ventilated seats and ambient lighting.
The LC300 will now be based on the body-on-frame version of the TNGA platform, the TNGA-F. Toyota has shifted to the TNGA platform for its new cars lately. The new platform preserves the off-roading capabilities of the car along with enhancing on-road performance. Along with this, the platform has helped to reduce the weight of the SUV and allowed for improving the safety of the car. Also, the frame design along with weight reduction also provides improved rigidity.
