Isuzu was the first brand to introduce customers to lifestyle vehicles in the country. No other brand has officially forayed into the pickup truck market and Isuzu has been gaining the first-mover advantage since. The brand launched its pickup truck, the D-Max V-Cross back in 2016 which also was the brand’s first Made-in-India product. The car, however, was later discontinued in 2020 due to the strict BS6 norms. This year, the brand is back with its updated products that comply with the BS6 emission norms. Today’s article will deal with Isuzu Hi-Lander which is the entry-level variant of the premium V-Cross and we will understand what it basically is.
Isuzu Hi-Lander follows the basic design of the V-Cross. However, the car being a base variant subtly differs from the premium variants. The car gets greyed-out ORVMs & front grille. The only chrome that you can find on the exterior will be with the tailgate handles. Also, the pickup is provided with halogen headlamps that come with no LED treatment whatsoever. Coming to the interiors, the dark tone theme is followed on the inside as well. The car being a base model gets limited elements and features which we will discuss below.
Dimensions & Specifications
The Hi-Lander is 5295mm long, 1860mm wide & 1785mm tall. It sits on 16-inch steel rims and a wheelbase of 3095mm. The car comes powered by a 1.9-litre diesel engine that makes 163bhp and 360Nm of torque. The 1.9-litre diesel engine is kept common across all the models. The unit comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with the Hi-Lander. Also, the Hi-Lander only gets a 2WD system.

Coming to the features, the lifestyle vehicle gets basic features like manual AC, rear AC vents, auto down power windows, a semi-digital instrument cluster, power windows, 60:40 rear split seat, 4-speakers, 2 power outlets & 3 USB ports. On the safety front, the Hi-Lander gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX and Emergency Brake Assist as some of the prominent features. The Isuzu Hi-Lander is priced at Rs 20.62 Lakhs (on-road Mumbai).
