We have been seeing various sightings online, of the upcoming 2022 KTM RC 390. Well, looks like the wait is over as e have finally got a first look at the upcoming new KTM RC 390. Now, this is a single spy shot as you can see below, but there are quite a few things that we can see and decipher from this image. Let’s take a closer look at this new bike now.

Bajaj Himalayan Competition – Should there be one?

Design, ergonomics and dimensions

While it will be hard to give any exact dimensions, we should expect completely new figures with this new bike. As we can see here, the stance, design and ergonomics look to have received a major overhaul. Since this image shows the side profile of the bike, lets talk about what has changed here. We can see an all new fairing, new exhaust and what looks like a bigger fuel tank. The trellis frame might have been tweaked here as well. It will be interesting to see what changes have been made to the sub-frame, swing arm and how much has the overall bike’s wheelbase, ground clearance, rake and trail changed. At the front we see that the bike continues to get upside down forks and a mono-shock at the rear (we don’t know how much adjustability these will provide, the incoming new RR310 is rumored to get more suspension adjustability now). Coming back to the front, we know from images circulating online of the RC 200, that the bike will get a bigger headlamp unit and daytime running LEDs will surround the fairing in front. Below, we can see that this bike gets Metzelers which have in recent times been notoriously out of stock in the country.

new KTM RC390

The new KTM RC 390 also seems to get a bit more relaxed rider triangle. Like mentioned before, we don’t know dimensions and exact changes, but from looking at the seat, position of the handlebars and the foot pegs, it looks like the unforgiving supersport might have been tamed for some more frequent use. This is interesting as the KTM RC 390 has always been a racer or track day enthusiast’s weapon of choice because of its super committed riding style. The bike that we see here looks closer to a sports tourer like the TVS Apache RR310. We can see that this bike will also inherit the color TFT display form the Duke and Adventure 390 with its Bluetooth capabilities and more information. Other things from its siblings would be – a bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS and traction control. Also since the bike is moving into sports touring territory, we could see that the new KTM RC 390 might get ride modes too. These could be like the RR310 where the ABS sensitivity is altered.

New KTM RC 390 Engine, price and launch

From the looks of it, the 373cc single-cylinder engine looks like it does not have any changes. We hope something has been done to make the bike run cooler. It should ideally continue to make 43.5bhp and 36Nm of torque. We also hope some vibrations are bought under control on this RC. In terms of pricing, we think the new KTM RC 390 will be Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 dearer. This would bring the price to Rs 3.32 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). We expect a launch soon in the coming months hopefully before August. We will update you more on developments regarding this bike on our social media handles too.
