Hero is a brand that offers bikes that are priced on the lower side of the market. They are the king of the commuter segment with the Splendor. With the Hero Xpulse 200 and Xtreme 160R, the company has shown their interest in having bikes that are premium in feel but priced considerably affordable. Here are 3 new Hero bikes that we would like to see in India!

Xpulse 400

One more adventure bike is expected from Hero. With the Xpulse 200 people have felt lack of power and the Xpulse 400 could be the bike that would fill in the void. At the launch of the Hero BS6 products range last year, a chassis with an engine was shown. Now, this could be the base for the Xpulse 400. We could see Hero using a liquid-cooled engine on their bike to achieve the performance benefits. It would be the grown up XPulse dual sport we are all waiting for.

Affordable Cruiser

Hero has been working with Harley for quite a period now. They manage service for Harley now and before that Hero used to manufacture parts that were used in the belt drive assembly of the Harley bikes made in India.

A cruiser from Hero might beat the existing only 2 true cruisers in the Indian market – Bajaj Avenger and Suzuki intruder. It might not attract the Royal Enfield audience which considered the Meteor 350 as a cruiser. The bike will need an all new platform. This Hero cruiser  could be priced around Rs 1.3 lakhs to 1.5 lakhs and could feature the Xpulse 200cc or 400cc engine with some change in gearing and power. It should have a comfortable cruising speed of 100 km/h.

Classic bike

A classic bike is something that the more mature audience is looking up to. Hero should cash into this demand as they are a trusted brand and they can make an affordable classic bike. The main problem here comes with getting a thumper engine. As we saw with the Honda CB 350 H’ness a thumper engine was the key to its success. Now Hero will have to develop a thumper engine to make sure that their bike has the classic charm. They had failed previously with the Splendor Classic Neo where they had offered a splendor engine on a café racer design.
