Specifications
The car in the discussion today is the MG Astor. It is the gasoline counterpart of the MG ZS EV, which has brought quite some success for itself in the EV space. Coming back to the Astor, the car is expected to come powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine which produces 118bhp and 150Nm of torque. A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine is also expected to be made available which produces 161bhp and 230Nm of torque. Both these engines are expected to come mated with manual as well as automatic gearboxes. We, however, do not expect MG to bring a diesel engine for the car. The car will come with 17-inch wheels.
Exteriors
Although the MG Astor might give a very thorough glimpse of the ZS EV, it will, however, have its own elements in order to target its rivals and differentiate itself from ZS EV. MG Astor will have a new set of tail lamps & headlamps which will get the LED treatment similar to other cars in the segment. Also, the car will come with unique alloy wheels which will further help it to be differentiated from the EV.

On the interior front, the car will borrow multiple elements directly from the ZS EV. However, some cues have been changed on the inside as well in order to retain freshness. For instance, the touchscreen infotainment setup on the Astor will be a floating unit, the centre console buttons will be new and every passenger will get adjustable headrests. Elements like the multi-function steering wheel will however be borrowed from the MG ZS EV.
Features
The Astor is expected to come loaded with features that will help it establish itself as a strong competitor. All-wheel disc brakes, wireless charging, electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, hill descent control, traction control, an electric sunroof, driving modes, fully digital instrument cluster & ventilated seats are expected to be the main highlights.
Pricing
As mentioned above, the MG Astor is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 12 Lakh price point. With heavy localization, MG would surely be looking at the top position in the C-segment SUV game.
