The hatchbacks market in India was developed and even with the shift to wars SUVs the hatchback remains to be demanded in equally large numbers. But which hatchback is good for what? Here we are going to find out which is the best hatchbacks under Rs 12 lakh and what is their forte?

Best safety

Tata Altroz is the safest hatchback hands down. It gets a safety rating of 5 stars which is the highest among all the hatchback. Also, this safety rating is for the base variant. So if you want you cant get a very safe car for Rs 6.85 lakh on-road Mumbai. This car gets 3 engine option with one being a turbo petrol option making more than 100 bhp of power. The only downside is there is no automatic option on any engine option.

Best engine refinement

Baleno is a premium sedan from Maruti which offers a great balance between engine refinement and price. The top model of the Maruti Baleno comes at a price of Rs 10.70 lakhs and at this price you not only get space and features but also good engine refinement. The ease of operation is quite noticeable over other vehicles and the petrol engine revs freely and feels quite peppy. You get the same engine refinement with the swift too but the swift does not come as a value for money when it comes to space not does it look premium like the Baleno. Spending 6000 more over the Baleno could get you the Toyota Glanza which is essentially the same car but you get the support of Toyota service and sales.

Best petrol mileage

The Maruti Swift gives the best petrol mileage without compromising on performance. This is because the car is lightweight and the 1.2-litre engine makes for a very fuel-efficient engine in the lower RPMs. The ARAI claimed mileage for the manual is 23.20 km/l whereas for the automatic it is 23.70 km/l.
