What extra do you get with the BMW 3 Series over the 2 Series for the extra amount?
Being the fundamental difference between a BMW 2 Series and a BMW 3 Series, the latter would be longer, wider and taller than the former. Also, a 3 Series would offer extra boot space over a 2 Series. To be precise, the BMW 2 Series is 4526mm long, 1800mm wide & 1420mm tall. It comes with a boot space of 430 litres. The BMW 3 Series, on the other hand, is 4709mm long, 1827mm wide & 1435mm tall. This one gets a boot space of 480 litres. Also, the 2 Series sits on a 2670mm wheelbase, whereas the 3 Series sits on a 2851mm wheelbase. The differences in dimensions clearly reveal that the 3 Series will be able to offer much better legroom & knee room over the 2 Series. Also, a longer wheelbase will further enhance the stability and ride quality of the car.
Another important thing that needs to be covered here is the fact that the 2 Series top-of-the-line variant gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 188bhp and 400Nm of torque. This engine transfers power directly to the front wheels. On the other hand, by paying the above mentioned extra amount, you get a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the BMW 3 Series base variant that makes 255bhp & 400Nm of torque. And this one transfers power directly to the rear wheels. However, the BMW 220d M Sport will come sat on 225/40 R18 set of wheels whereas the BMW 3 Series 330i will come sat on a 225/50 R17 set of wheels. In terms of features, you get 3-zone climate control, cruise control with braking function, rearview camera, front & rear parking sensors and memory function for the driver’s seat as some of the prominent features with the 3 Series base variant.
