Skoda under its India 2.0 strategy has been planning some major products that will help the brand re-establish itself as a strong competitor not just in the sedan market but also in other segments. The first outcome of the India 2.0 strategy is the soon to be launched Skoda Kushaq. Now, in a tweet that was posted by him a while ago, Zac Hollis had revealed that a new sedan will be entering the market by the end of this year. We expect this sedan to be a mid-size vehicle with a price tag of around Rs 10 Lakhs. In this article, we will discuss this Skoda Rs 10 Lakh sedan that is coming soon. Let’s go.
Dimensions
The new mid-size sedan is expected to be bigger in dimensions when compared to the Rapid as it will be positioned above it. For reference, the Skoda Rapid is 4413mm long, 1699mm wide & 1466mm tall. With better dimensions, the car would be able to provide much better legroom and knee room. Ample space in the 2nd-row directly leads to better comfort, which is specifically a piece of good news for people who like being chauffeur-driven. Overall this new car will most likely replace the current Rapid.
Design
The new sedan from Skoda is expected to come with modern design cues that will give it a very fresh appeal in the market. Headlamp and tail lamp units are expected to be much sleeker when compared to the brand’s Rapid, for instance, which gets wider light units. Also, sleeker LED DRLs are expected on this one. Coming to the overall body, the new one is expected to follow a smooth roofline that will enhance the exterior sportiness.
Engine & Transmission
The car is mostly expected to get the same engine & transmission setups that will power the upcoming Skoda Kushaq. This means that the car is expected to come powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI engine which is capable of producing 113bhp and 175Nm torque and a 1.5-litre TSI engine which will produce 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre unit is expected to come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as a 6-speed torque converter. The 1.5-litre unit will be expected with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox setup.
Features
Coming to features, Skoda Rs 10 Lakh mid-size sedan is expected to come loaded with the most modern amenities that a customer would be expecting on a car with this price tag. A touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, wireless charging, a fully digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, remote start, rear parking camera & sensors, airbags and other such features are expected. It might also get the two-spoke multi-function steering wheel that we will get to see with the Skoda Kushaq.
