The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a bike that has been provided at a very low cost in the Indian Market. Where other 650cc bikes start at Rs 5 lakh onwards, this bike is available at a price of approximately 3 lakhs. Here are 5 Royal Enfield Interceptor modifications that will improve your riding experience.
The tyres on the Royal Enfield Interceptor are quite skinny. Currently the front is running a 100/90-18 and the rear is a 139/70/18. Earlier Royal Enfield offered Pirelli Phantom Sportcomps but now there are Ceat tyres. For a performance from a 650cc engine, tyres could be better. Also the Interceptor provides a good foundation for modifications and one can also fit more sporty tyres or go the other way and put more dirt and off-road focused/dual-purpose tyres if trail riding is going to be something that you will do.
The Interceptor has uptight riding position which is good but you do find yourself leaning ahead a bit and while standing on the footpegs you have bend down. Getting a set of handlebar riser can solve this. These will not only add to the comfort while riding on the trails but also make the ride a bit more relaxed on the highway. Just make sure that you figure out the length of cables and then get these handlebars.
The foo tpegs on the Interceptor seem to hit the shin while moving the bike with your feet. This problem can be solved easily by adding custom footcpegs or even foldable ones. If you get custom foot pegs that are not moveable then they might change the riding triangle. This is not advisable unless you want to have a sportier riding posture. Another direction you can take here is adding the foot pegs of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. They are bigger and with serrated edges provide better grip off-road.
The LED headlight is the most basic of Royal Enfield modifications. The bike comes with a halogen yellow bulb as stock. It is adequate for the city but not super bright and is not great for night highway rides. A lot of plug and play units are available in the market as well you could get extra auxiliary lights along with the stock light setup.
The seat of the Royal Enfield seems to be become uncomfortable for long rides. It starts to be uncomfortable after an hour in the saddle. We suggest that getting a customized seat for your Interceptor might be a good investment. You will get better back support and no saddle sores will make your rides much more comfortable.
