Yamaha has unveiled their MT-15 or the M-Slaz 150 roadster at the ongoing Thailand Motor Expo 2015.

Based on the YZF-R15, the M-Slaz 150 has generated a fair bit of buzz in the run up to the launch. The street-fighter apes its fully faired sibling, and shares the same parts bin, including goodies such as the delta-box frame and the 150cc single cylinder motor.

The MT-15 is 1,955 mm long and has a wheelbase of 1,350 mm. The bike measures 795 mm in width and is 1,065 mm tall. A saddle height of 805 mm and a 164 mm ground clearance round off the physical dimensions. Yamaha have used a 26 degree rake angle and it has a 10.2 litre fuel tank. It can take in a litre of engine oil, while the coolant capacity is 0.52 litres.

LED’s are used extensively in the illumination and lighting department on the MT-15/M-Slaz 150 and the headlamp, tail lamp and DRL’s are of the LED type. There is a smaller, 3 Ah battery in place, in comparison to the larger one on the YZF-R15. Instrumentation is a single unit, expansive display of the full-negative LED LCD type. Unlike previously thought, Yamaha isn’t offering a keyless ignition on the M-Slaz 150/ MT-15, featuring the key-slot on the fuel tank instead.

The 135 kg bike (wet-weight) gets 37 mm upside down shocks at the front and a mono-shock unit at the rear. Yamaha didn’t share power and torque figures at the time of the reveal. However, given that the MT-15/M-Slaz 150 borrows its motor from the YZF-R15, it would be safe to estimate a guess that it should make around 17 bhp and 15 Nm torque. Disc brakes are present at the front and rear. The motorcycle runs on 17-inch wheels as is the norm in the segment with a 110/70 section tire up front and a 130/70 at the rear.

Yamaha is offering four colour combinations to customers there. These include three dual-tone options viz. silver-green, red-black and blue-white. There is also a fourth, matte-black colour option for the MT-15/M-Slaz 150.

Prices start from INR 1.66 lakhs (introductory prices, duly converted).

Should be interesting to see just how this one plays out when the bike is launched here in India, sometime in 2016.
