The French automaker, Citroen, made its debut in the country this year. Recently, Citroen launched its first product for the country, the C5 Aircross. With C5 Aircross officially launched, it will now compete with multiple products that fall in varied price brackets. Engine & Transmission
The Tata Harrier comes powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that is capable of producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a manual gearbox as well as an automatic torque converter unit. The C5 Aircross also comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, however, the unit on the C5 Aircross makes 174bhp and 400Nm of torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Both vehicles are however closely matched in terms feedback, drivability and handling. The Citroen is comfortable while the Harrier takes the worst Indian roads in its stride.
C5 Aircross vs Harrier Dimensions
The Harrier is 4598mm long, 1894mm wide and 1706mm high, giving the Harrier a tall and bold look. The Citroen C5 Aircross is 4500mm long, 1969mm wide and 1710mm tall. The Tata Harrier is considerably longer than the Aircross, whereas the Aircross is wider and a bit taller than the Harrier.
The Harrier gets features like a panoramic sunroof, an 8.8-inch floating touchscreen, a 9-speaker premium JBL sound system, 14 ESP modes and connected car tech. The C5 Aircross comes loaded with premium features like comfort seats with memory foam, acoustic windscreen & front windows, individually adjustable 2nd-row seats, Progressive Hydraulic Cushion-equipped suspension system and hands-free tailgate opening function.
The Tata Harrier starts at Rs 17.18 Lakhs with the top variant coming at Rs 25.14 Lakhs. The Citroen C5 Aircross on the other hand starts at Rs 36.24 Lakhs and goes up to Rs 38.96 Lakhs for the top variant. All prices mentioned are on-road Mumbai.
Should you buy the C5 Aircross over the Tata Harrier?
If you want a car that has a great road presence, offers all necessary features, gets a really powerful diesel engine and comes with a manual gearbox as well, you should go for the Tata Harrier. On the other hand, if you want a car that loaded with premium features, looks unique and new you should definitely go for the Citroen C5 Aircross. However, be ready to pay a lot more when compared to the Tata Harrier for the extra set of advantages.
