Chang La Pass

Chang La Pass is snow-covered across the year. The presence of ice makes the road slippery. Low oxygen level adds to the difficulties which make it harder to focus on the road since this road is located 5360m above sea level. The low oxygen causes some serious issues.

National Highway 22

NH22 is counted as one of the most dangerous highways in the country. The route also includes the infamous Taranda Dhank where the road has been carved through the mountain by cutting it. Also, the route has multiple blind turns which could cause a major accident.

Rohtang Pass

It would be really unjustified on our end if we do not include Rohtang Pass in this list. Rohtang, in the native language, means a pile of dead bodies. The name was given due to innumerous people who died while trying to cross it. The pass has sharp turns and bad slippery roads while forming a deadly combination. Moreover, the fog makes it really difficult to locate the fast approaching turns which makes it more dangerous.

Nathula Pass

Nathula Pass is considered dangerous because of the slippery roads. Snowfall in winters and landslide during monsoons make it a constant danger for the commuters using this route.

Gata Loops

The numerous hairpin turns make this route really difficult to conquer. There are a total of 21 loops that a commuter has to go through to reach the somewhat surmountable roads on the Leh-Manali highway. The road becomes more difficult during winters due to the amount of ice.

Sangla Road

Sangla Road is dangerous due to the sheer error margin that a driver has while using this route. A wrong move and tipping over the edge would lead to death. This factor alone makes it a dangerous road.

Khardung La Pass

Khardung La Pass is the world’s highest motorable road. Although, being motorable does not mean the journey will be easy. The pass is slippery due to ice. Along with being slippery, there is mud as well. And both these things are present all across the difficult hairpin turns.

Sela Pass

Although the view around the Sela Pass is really breathtaking, however, getting lost in the view can be really fatal on this dangerous road. Sharp turns and winding roads put together with slippery ice may take the wrong turn for commuters if they are not cautious.

This route is located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The road contains multiple sharp turns leading to elevations which makes it really difficult for drivers. Also, the road becomes slippery during the monsoon season, adding to the dangers. Not very dangerous it does keep you on your toes.
