Maruti Rs 8 Lakh SUV to replace Vitara Brezza?

Now, the news is that Maruti Suzuki is in plans of developing a new SUV based on its premium hatchback, the Baleno. In this article, we will discuss this upcoming Maruti Rs 8 Lakh SUV.
Codename & Platform
The SUV has been code-named YTB as of now within Maruti Suzuki. The car, similar to the Baleno, will be based on the Heartect platform. Being based on the Heartect platform, the car will be able to deliver reduced NVH levels along with good ride and handling, ultimately leading to great driving pleasure.
Design
The upcoming car might carry a coupe-inspired design, similar to what we saw with the Futuro-E during Auto Expo 2020. The car will limit itself to just taking inspiration from the Baleno. Other than the design elements, the overall car will be different. Moreover, it will be taller than the Baleno, meaning improved space on the inside.
Engine & Transmission
The Baleno gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine capable of generating 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual as well as a CVT gearbox. The Baleno also gets a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that makes 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The same setup is expected on upcoming Maruti Rs 8 Lakh SUV as well.
What is Maruti Suzuki planning for the future?
MSIL has plans to manufacture record number of cars this fiscal year, meaning that the brand is revamping to reverse the losses incurred due to the lockdown. Also, Maruti is planning a minimum of five cars in the coming time in order to better penetrate the market. We had already reported earlier that the new Celerio is coming this May. Moreover, we might get to see the Jimny as well a new-generation Vitara Brezza, however, they might get delayed due to the semiconductor shortage in the industry.
