Volkswagen is getting ready  to the the new Beetle in India, very soon . The car has been spotted testing, ahead of its launch. VW dealers have already started accepting bookings and one can book the car at a VW dealership for an amount of INR one lakh. This also suggests that the launch is just around the corner.

While we expected the Beetle to come with 16-inch alloy wheels, the model spotted in the pic seems to have smaller wheels. This move may be made in order to improve ride quality and increase tyre life in Indian driving conditions. The VW Beetle is, as it is, carries an image of a lifestyle car than being outrightly sporty, unlike the Mini Cooper or the Abarth 595 Competizione from Fiat. The new Beetle will get bi-xenon headlamps, electrically retractable ORVMs, a rear spoiler, and also foglamps.

The Beetle will be equipped with features such as a dual zone automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic glass roof, auto dimming rear view mirror, leather upholstery, and also heated front seats. Safety wise, dual airbags alongwith side airbags and ABS with EBD and traction control is expected to be made available.

The Beetle will come fitted with a 1.4-litre TSI four cylinder petrol engine that will churn out 147bhp of power. This engine will be mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox and will also feature paddle shifts. The car will make its way into India via the CBU route, like its predecessor. We expect it to be priced around 35-40 lakhs (on-road). It will compete with the Abarth 595 Competition and Mini Cooper, in India.
