What will the new Skoda Octavia be like?
Skoda has earned quite a name for itself in the country by mainly focusing on sedans. And one of the flag-bearers has been the Octavia. This car has earned applauds for combining luxury with performance. The product in its latest-generation avatar is ready to enter the Indian market pretty soon. Exterior
The new Skoda Octavia gets sleek single-unit LED headlights that have replaced the quad-headlight set up on the previous Octavia. The LED DRLs on the new one is giving it a very modern, updated character. The tail-lights and the brake lights also get the LED treatment. It is also expected to get 19-inch wheels, which will give a masculine look.
Interior
The interior on the new Octavia has been heavily updated. The car now gets a two-spoke steering wheel, the one we get to see on the recently-launched Skoda Kushaq. The steering wheel on the Octavia, however, gets heating function as an option as well. The car now gets a large, free-standing central touchscreen infotainment unit.
The Virtual Cockpit also gets an update, with the one now becoming more user-friendly.
Engine & Transmission
The new Octavia is expected to come powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine, capable of producing 187bhp and 320Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. This DSG unit will be the first from Skoda to use shift-by-wire technology.
The new Skoda Octavia, however, will not be offered with a diesel engine, as the brand has shunned diesel engines for now, under its latest strategy for the country.
New Skoda Octavia Features
The Octavia is expected to be loaded with a ton of features to draw the customers’ attention towards itself. LED ambient lighting system, seats with available massage function, ventilated seats, heads-up-display, tri-zone climate control, acoustic side windows, connected car tech and wireless charging are some of the expected features.
Pricing & Launch
The new Skoda Octavia is expected to be priced around Rs 20 Lakhs. The official launching of the car will take place around the end of April this year.
