New Maruti Suzuki Celerio coming this May
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been a very successful product for the Indian car manufacturer. Maruti debuted the AMT gearbox with the Celerio. Ease of driving and reliability from Maruti made this a very successful product. However, the Celerio had been waiting for a generation change for quite some time now. With spy shots surfacing here and there, it became clear that Maruti is planning to bring a new Celerio. The good news is that the new-gen Celerio will be arriving this May. In this article, we will be discussing the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio and what are our expectations of it.
Exterior
On the exterior front, the new Celerio will get a completely fresh look. Better looking headlamps compared to the current model are expected. Since it will be a generation change, the car is expected to be heavily updated. From the earlier spy shots, it was very evident that the new Celerio will be bigger than the one being sold currently.
Also, the new one is expected to get sleek looking tail-lamps which will complement the overall personality of the new car. The alloy setup will also be a notch better on the new one.
Interior
As mentioned above, the car will be bigger than the current model, meaning better space and capacity than before. The interior will thus become much more comfortable, making it a much better space to be in. As seen from the spy shots, the glass area has also increased, meaning the cabin will feel airier than before.
Moreover, elements like a redesigned dashboard and a better centre layout are expected with the new one. Since it will be bigger in dimensions, the brand might be able to fit in better storage spaces on the new Celerio. Armrests and cup holders might also be present to give it a modern appeal.
Features
The Celerio is expected to get features that could sway the competition easily. A touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity, semi-digital instrument cluster and a multi-function steering wheel might be on offer. Maruti could easily blow away the competition if it decides to give the new Celerio cruise control.
Other features like rear AC vents and charging port might also be on offer.
Platform & Engine
The Maruti Celerio will now be based on the Heartect platform, meaning better NVH levels and improved ride & handling with the new one. For the engines, the new Celerio is expected to borrow the 1.2-litre petrol engine from the WagonR. However, this time the Celerio will not be offered with the diesel engine.
The Celerio will get the AMT gearbox along with a manual gearbox as well.
Pricing & Rivals
The pricing of the new Celerio is expected to be buffed by Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 above the current model. The main competitors will be Tata Tiago, the Hyundai i10 Nios and the home-grown WagonR & Swift.
