The mid-size SUV segment has been ruled by Hyundai Creta for a very long time. Kia, its sister brand also did quite well with the launch of Seltos in India. Price and Launch
The on-road price of Hyundai Creta in Mumbai is between Rs. 11.72 lakh and Rs. 21 lakh. It comes in 17 variant options. Skoda in its attempt to attract Indian customers by pricing has made the Skoda Kushaq with 92% localization of parts. We expect the ex-showroom pricing of the Skoda Kushaq between Rs.9.00 lakh and Rs. 16.00 lakh.
The company has already revealed the prototype variant of the car. The Skoda Vision IN on which the Kushaq is based was also showcased during the Auto Expo in 2020. The Skoda Kushaq’s global unveil is set to be in March 2021.
Engine and Performance
The Hyundai Creta comes with three engine options. The 1.5-litre Diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre petrol engine on the other hand produces 113bhp and 144Nm of torque. The Skoda Kushaq will only come with petrol engine options. There will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine option which produces enough power and torque for its size. A 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed DSG transmission option are expected with the car. There will also be a turbo petrol engine option. Unlike its competitors, the Skoda Kushaq will come with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine at an affordable price.
Dimensions and Conclusion
The Hyundai Creta is 4300mm in length, 1790mm in width, 1635mm in height, and comes with 2610mm of wheelbase. As of now only the wheelbase of the Skoda Kushaq is known. The Skoda Kushaq comes with 2651mm of wheelbase. Rear seat space is also expected to be adequate for only two passengers. Coming with a smaller turbo petrol engine option, the Skoda Kushaq will be aggressively priced in India and a worthy competition to the market leader Hyundai Creta in India.
