The Kia Sonet and the Hyundai i20 are premium products from their respective brands. Where Kia Sonet is a premium product in the compact SUV segment, the Hyundai i20 is a premium hatchback. In this article, we will compare Hyundai i20 vs Kia Sonet to see how they fare against each other.

Engine & Transmission

The premium hatchback from Hyundai comes with multiple engine options mated to a variety of transmissions. The i20 gets regular petrol mated to a manual as well as an automatic CVT gearbox. It also gets a turbocharged petrol engine mated to an IMT as well as DCT gearbox. The diesel engine on the i20 comes mated to a manual gearbox only.

Kia Sonet gets engine and transmission configurations similar to the Hyundai i20. The Kia Sonet, however, also gets diesel engine mated to an automatic Torque-Converter gearbox, which the i20 misses. Both cars get similar power and torque figures, however, the i20 is expected to get an i20 N-line variant in the country, which will make more power than what the current i20 makes.

Tyres

The i20 comes with 15-inch tyres on the lower variant and 16-inch tyres on the higher variants. The Kia Sonet is also offered with 15-inch tyres on the lower variants and 16-inch on the higher variants. However, the i20 comes with 14-inch spare tyres on the lower variant and 15-ich spare tyre on the higher variants, whereas the Kia Sonet comes with common 15-inch spare tyres for all its variants.

Cabin & Boot Space

The Hyundai i20 gets 351-litre boot space whereas the Kia Sonet gets segment-leading boot space of 392-litres. However, the Kia Sonet, in order to provide a big boot compromise with the seating comfort inside the vehicle. The Kia Sonet finds it difficult to fit in three passengers in the 2nd-row. However, the Hyundai i20 offers great seating space in the 2nd-row with ample space for three passengers.

Features

Coming to the features, both the products are loaded with features. Both cars get a sunroof, ambient lighting, BOSE Premium music system, 6-airbags, Connected Car tech, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, air-purifier, push-button start-stop, wireless charging, and various other convenience features.

The Kia Sonet, however, offers ventilated seats on the front, which the Hyundai i20 misses.

Hyundai i20 vs Kia Sonet Pricing

The Hyundai i20 starts at Rs 6.80 Lakhs (ex-showroom) with the top-model reaching up to Rs 11.33 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia Sonet on the other hand starts at Rs 6.79 Lakhs (ex-showroom) with the top-model coming at Rs 13.19 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
