The entry-level hatchback car segment is slowly losing its bling in India. While there are many buyers who still buy entry-level hatchback cars, easy availability of loans have led to the popularity of premium hatchbacks and compact sedans. Cars like Maruti Alto, WagonR, Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago compete in this segment. Tata recently launched a Limited Edition of the Tiago to keep things fresh. Hyundai Santro received a generation update quite some time ago and the car is expected to get a facelift soon. Find out below about the Hyundai Santro 2021 Facelift Expectations.

New Design and Looks

The major change in the 2021-22 Hyundai Santro will be term of overall looks. Being a facelift, major changes can be expected to the exteriors of the car. For starters, the new Hyundai Santro will borrow heavy inspiration and styling cues from the Grand i10 Nios, its elder sibling. The front fascia look is expected to change with the inclusion of new front bumper and grille.

Hyundai Santro, being an entry-level car will miss out on projector headlamps and the like but can surely get LED DRLs in the higher-spec trims. Also, when Hyundai Santro was launched, the company followed the Fluidic design protocol. In the recent times, however, Sensuous Sportiness has taken over and we expect to see the same design language to be carried forward here.

Interiors and Engine Update

The new Hyundai Santro is expected to come with full black interiors in all the variants to help it differentiate from the current generation. The full black interior dashboard design will also add a sporty look to the car. Hyundai may also provide an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be a subtle update seen in facelifts. We also expect seat colours to change and semi-leatherette seats to be made available. Customers can also expect new exterior colour options and new alloy wheel design from Hyundai. The engine and transmission option may largely remain the same along with the ongoing CNG option. On the other hand if Tata, in future launches Tiago again with a turbo petrol engine, Hyundai too may provide it in their car. The 998cc turbo petrol engine used in the Grand i10 Nios will be used in the Hyundai Santro Turbo to compete against the Tata Tiago Turbo if launched.   The new Hyundai Santro may see a price bump and will be launched by the end of 2022.
