Ford Creta Competition – What to expect?
The Hyundai Creta has been the undefeated king in its segment. The Creta has been on the top of sales charts, even after vehicles like the Kia Seltos and Tata Harrier competing against it. The Hyundai Creta still awaits a competition which could dethrone it, and we believe Ford might be readying a vehicle that could make it happen. Down below we discuss a rival we are calling the Ford Creta competition and are our expectation of it.
Platform
The Ford product might be sharing the platform based on the Ssangyong Korando which we could also see underpinning the upcoming new-gen Mahindra XUV500. The chassis might be a Monocoque setup, giving the vehicle better fuel efficiency and higher safety, which is the customers’ highest priority these days.
Engine
The engines powering the Ford Creta competition might be the ones powering the upcoming Mahindra XUV500; an m-Stallion petrol engine and an m-Hawk diesel engine, so, the power figures are also expected to remain similar. The vehicle might be a forward-wheel drive with all-wheel drive also on offer.
Features
The Ford vehicle will be feature-loaded to give the Creta the competition that it needs. Features like a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof and all such features which are available on the competition which give the product a premium feel will be loaded on the vehicle.
Ford-Mahindra Current Relationship Status
The joint venture which was reportedly called off at the beginning of this year is still under negotiations, as reported to us by our sources at Ford. Nothing has been thrown off the table currently. Mahindra might do the manufacturing for Ford under a contractual agreement as well.
The Ford competition for Hyundai Creta could easily break the Creta’s winning streak if the brand manages to hit the sweet spot and impress the Indian customers. Moreover, we hope that Mahindra and Ford make way for a sustainable joint venture which would ultimately benefit the customers.
