2021 Mahindra Marazzo to become cheaper

The MPV segment in India is preferred by people who require more seats at an affordable price. The Maruti Ertiga sold in this segment, is the market leader in terms of sales figures and number.  However other contenders like Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta are also doing great. Mahindra launched Marazzo as “Premium MPV” but sales figures were not upto the mark. Also no petrol engine option was a hurdle for many people. More about Marazzo

The current generation BS6 Diesel Mahindra Marazzo costs between Rs. 14.02 lakh and Rs. 16.56 lakh(On-road Mumbai). It comes in 6 variant options with a single 1.5 litre Diesel engine.  The 1497cc engine produces 121bhp and 300Nm. No automatic transmission is also present with the car.

Why will it become cheaper?

The 2021 Mahindra Marazzo is expected to come with a petrol engine to bring better competition in the market at a lower price.  Recently spy pics were seen where Mahindra could been seen testing the Marazzo either with a petrol engine or an automatic transmission. Which engine and transmission?

Like the Maruti Ertiga in its segment, the Mahindra Marazzo is also expected to come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.  This engine is rumoured to produce around 158bhp and 280Nm. Both manual and automatic transmission will be present with this engine. The automatic transmission will also be the 6-speed AMT from Mahindra XUV300. Diesel automatic will also be made available for customer convenience.

The new Mahindra Marazzo may not directly compete with Maruti Ertiga in terms of pricing. Instead, being a premium MPV, Mahindra will try to compete against XL6 which is sold via Nexa. The Maruti XL6 now, costs between Rs.11.34 lakh and Rs.13.55 lakh(On-road Mumbai) with only a petrol engine option and both manual and automatic transmission.
