The premium hatchback segment has slowly become a hot-selling segment like the compact-SUV. Many new buyers are preferring premium hatchbacks as their entry-level cars.  Hyundai i20 was the creator of this segment and has evolved quite a lot over the years. Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno and other cars in the segment have only made the market more competitive. Hyundai i20 new generation was also recently launched in India with premium pricing as well. Find out below about the Hyundai i20 Diesel Automatic for 2021.

Engine and Performance

The new Hyundai i20 comes with three engine options: one diesel and two petrol.  The 1.2-litre 1997cc Kappa petrol engine produces 82bhp/6000rpm and 114.74Nm/4200rpm. Both manual and automatic transmission is present with this engine. The 1.0-litre Turbo GDi 998cc petrol engine produces 118.36bhp/6000rpm and 171.62Nm/1500-4000rpm. It comes with both iMT and DCT transmission option.

The 1.5-litre 1493cc Diesel engine produces 98.63bhp/4000rpm and 240.26Nm/1500-2750rpm. The only downside to this engine is that it only comes with a manual transmission. People who regularly drive the Diesel i20 on highways surely need some form of automatic transmission for added convenience.

Hyundai Creta Automatic Price, Mileage, Specifications of Petrol & Diesel

In 2021, the Hyundai i20 Diesel is expected to get an automatic transmission. The car will likely borrow the transmission from the Hyundai Creta. The torque converter automatic transmission from Creta will make the i20 Diesel’s price significantly higher.  The same transmission and engine combination on the Hyundai Creta produces 19.00 km/l ARAI. The Hyundai i20 being smaller and lighter will easily produce 20+ km/l  of ARAI mileage. This new transmission will help the new Hyundai i20 stand out from the competition and provide better value to its customers.
