MG Hector Diesel Automatic – Still not available
The mid-size SUV segment has some pretty worthy contenders in our Indian car market. While the Hyundai Creta leads in terms of sales, MG Hector and Kia Seltos are not too far behind. The MG Hector was also one of the initial internet-enabled cars in our country. MG also recently updated the Hector lineup in India including the Hector Plus. Find out below about the upcoming Hector Diesel automatic transmission.
Update about the Transmission
The current generation MG Hector comes with both petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol engine has automatic transmission options, diesel customers are not so lucky. MG Hector Diesel is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. However things can change around in 2021. Reports indicate Hector diesel DCT may launched soon in our country. There will also be no performance change in the engine, keeping the power and torque figures same. Customers can expect slightly better fuel efficiency compared to the manual transmission. DCT transmission is known for its sportiness and responsiveness and will be a great welcome addition.
Engine and Performance
The 2.0-litre diesel engine on the MG Hector produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre petrol engine on the other hand produces 141bhp and 250Nm of torque. The Hector Petrol engine also comes with the option of 6-speed Automatic transmission. In its segment, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier both provide automatic transmission options with diesel engines. For people looking to do regular highway runs and long trips with their diesel cars, automatic transmission is a great inclusion.
More about the 2021 Hector
The 2021 MG Hector costs between Rs.15.24 lakh and Rs.22.18 lakh (On-road). The MG Hector Plus on the other hand costs between Rs.15.77 lakh and Rs.23.13 lakh. The MG Hector Plus like the MG Hector does not get any automatic transmission option with the diesel engine.
