5 expectations from upcoming 2021 Maruti Celerio

The Maruti Suzuki hatchback game is strong. From Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs there are no cars that can compete with  the offerings from Maruti. One of the strong products  here in this vast portfolio is the Maruti Celerio. The brand has had tremendous success with the budget hatchback and is now set to bring it back again. It is also a highly awaited car as its competitors – Tiago and Grand i10 Nios have recived updates. Here are our 5 expectations from the upcoming 2021 Maruti Celerio.

2021 Maruti Celerio platform and design

The Celerio is going to become bigger and its proportions, dimensions and capacity will be bigger than before. The car will be based on the Heartect platform by Maruti. It will see a whole new redesign. The car will get better headlamps and from images that have surfaced online – a new roofline, bigger glass area and a reworked rear. The car will be also get new sleeker taillamps and better alloy wheels.

Upcoming Maruti Celerio features

The Celerio has always shown tremendous value with its features and positioning in the Maruti Arena line-up. We expect the car to get the new Smart Play touchscreen system paired to four speaker and two tweeters. The car could also get a new semi-digital instrument cluster. Maruti will also offer the car with steering mounted controls and could give the car in a segment first move – cruise control. The car could get the AMT gearbox too with a Eco mode. In the rear, we will see the car get AC vents, a charging point and individual headrests. The whole interior will get revised storage spaces, armrests, cup holders and a new interior color and trim.

Maruti Celerio engine options

The Celerio was earlier available with the option of a petrol and diesel engine. The new upcoming 2021 Maruti Celerio will get only a petrol engine. There will be an option of an AMT gearbox along with a manual. The car currently uses the 1-litre K-series engine with the option of S-CNG. We could see the car borrow the 1.2-litre engine as an option from the WagonR.

Maruti Celerio features

First off, as mentioned above the car will get a updated interior with a new dashboard, touchscreen, instrument cluster and interior layout. There will be more in terms of safety too. Unlike the WagonR, we hope Maruti gives this car a reverse parking camera and not only sensors. It will get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2021 upcoming Maruti Celerio Price and Competition

The car should be Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 more expansive than the current model. The Celerio retails currently from Rs 4.41 lakhs to Rs 5.68 lakhs. This tall boy will compete with the Tiago, i10 Nios and also with Maruti’s own – Swift and WagonR. We will have to wait and see what will be the variants and other features Maruti gets us.
