The seven-seater segment in India is slowly gaining popularity thanks to its affordability and performance. For an Indian middle-class man who wants to travel with his whole family at once, seven-seater cars are much more practical than expensive SUVs and sedans. While Renault as a company has not been doing its best, the Duster is quite a popular car in India. Other brands like Hyundai, MG and Tata have transformed their five-seater to seven-seater by clever redesigning. Here is what could be on the Renault Duster Seven Seater!
What is Dacia?
It is well known that Dacia is Renault’s budget brand around the world. Indeed, the Renault Duster we have in India began life as a Dacia product. Though we’ve been waiting for our market to get the all-new Duster, it is obvious that Renault India is currently focused on the volume game. Their all-new product, the Renault Kiger is scheduled for a launch in a few months.
Concept and Platform
The Dacia Bigster model is based on the platform of the Renault CMF-B. India currently has a CMF-A that supports cars such as the Kiger and the Nissan Magnite. Not only does the Bigster look funky, but it also has a rugged charm, qualities that may attract many Indian clients. 18-inch all-terrain wheels are also seen on the image.LED lighting will enhance the looks and also provide for better illumination. There will be 11 body types supported by the CMF-B platform and both alternative-energy and hybrid powertrains. Renault plans to launch 3 new models and an all-electric town car by 2025.
Five Seater too?
With the Dacia/Renault Duster due for a replacement in near future, we expect the Bigster concept to spawn a shorter 5 seat derivative which will carry forward the popular nameplate. The combo of 5 and 7 seats seems to be the path in which the global mid-size crossover segment is going.
This way, with a single product, the automaker will reach a broader spectrum of audiences. The MG Hector and Hector Plus, Tata Harrier and Safari, and Hyundai Creta and its forthcoming 7-seat derivative are the latest examples. With the creation of the new Dacia-Lada Business Unit, to keep the overall cost structure competitive, more synergies and better economies of scale are on the horizon.
For now the Duster product which started the 5 seater segment is a bit under shadowed by the Hyundai Creta and Seltos.
