Upcoming Honda Burgman Competition – What will it be?
If we look at the scooter market then Honda has a competitor to every segment of scooter. The only scooters that gets left out are the Suzuki Burgman and the 150cc sporty scooters like Aprilia. As of now Honda does not manufacture a 150cc engine in India and competing in the 150cc segment does not seem like a great idea. The low sales number and the competition with bikes in the 150cc of scooter is not a great recipe for sales numbers. We are expecting a Upcoming Honda Burgman Competion scooter soon. Here is what you might see on it.
Name? PCX 125?
Honda has one scooter in the international market called the PCX125 which seems like a perfect competition for the Suzuki Burgman. The PCX has been newly unveiled with a hybrid technology and we are expecting Honda to bring atleast the PCX brand to India. The Hybrid won’t be feasible in terms of the price that they want to place this as the Burgman competition. If it comes to India it will have a regular 125cc motor that we see on the Honda Activa 125 BS6. We will come back to the engine later in the article but lets first take a look where the upcoming Honda Burgman competition scores points
Bigger Size
The PCX with its bigger size will have a better comfortable seating. Also the bigger size might not translate into higher weight. The footboard will be larger and will be more accommodating for feet as well as bags. Also if this scooter does not come with a hybrid motor then it will skip on the spilt of the footboard where the batteries are placed. Giving a flat footboard is necessary because scooter here in India are more of an utility vehicle and the comfortable seating comes after that.
Other Features
Other important feature that comes with the Activa 125cc engine is the start stop function. This becomes convenient in traffic and also helps in saving fuel consumed during the starting up process. With this new system the PCX will be silent like the BS6 Activa 125. It will gets a under seat light as well charging socket. With the PCX Honda might also give a charging port at on the apron storage near the key.
The Upcoming Honda Burgman Competition has not been confirmed for launch in India. The PCX is a product which we thing should come to India.
