Tata Motors currently has the Tigor compact sedan on sale which is based on the Tiago hatchback. The Tigor gets overshadowed by the Tiago and now there is Altroz sitting right above the compact sedan and hence it is not selling in big numbers. The Tata Tigor is a notchback and thus cannot be compared directly with the other compact-sedans in the segment. Find out below if India will finally get the Tata Goshaq.

Three Upcoming Tata Cars spotted testing in India!

Platform and Looks

2020 Tata Goshaq front

Details about the Tata Goshaq are scarce at the moment. Considering it’s based on the ALFA Arc platform, expect it to bear some resemblance to the Altroz. The design is likely to be sporty and tasteful under Tata’s Impact 2.0 design language. Reports also claim the sedan could borrow styling elements from the HBX, Sierra concept, and Tigor. The new car will definitely have a better boot space compared to the Tigor in India.

Engine and Performance

2020 Tata Goshaq rear

Tata Goshaq engine can be assumed to be a petrol engine as seen on the Tata Altroz. This 1.2-litre engine naturally-aspirated or turbo? Too early to say that. Diesel will be a doubtful option for sure. As of now, there isn’t an option of Automatic on the Tata Altroz but the company will soon launch a DCT one with the turbocharged engine. This same could make it on the Tata Goshaq as well. More about Could we ever get Tata Goshaq in India below.

2020 Tata Altroz engine

The upcoming sedan is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel. While the former is good for 85bhp and 114Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque.

Competition

The Tata Goshaq is rumoured to come as a replacement for the Zest compact sedan, which has been discontinued owing to low demand. The sedan will take on the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and the Honda Amaze. The name ‘Goshaq’ comes from the Northern Goshawk bird, which is known for sharp paws and beak. Tata Motors is currently selling the Tigor sub-compact sedan, which is likely to be sold alongside the upcoming Goshaq sedan.

Features

2020 Tata Goshaq

The sedan will have 90-degree opening doors, similar to the Altroz, for easy ingress or egress. Adding to it, the sedan could also receive a factory-fitted sunroof. The Tata Goshaq will be equipped with high-end features like height-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, multi-functional steering wheel, all-digital instrument console and cruise control. The exact launch date is yet to be announced, rumours state it could come by late 2022.
