Safest Hatchbacks of India
With the increase in safety awareness in India, we are seeing manufacturers moving towards safer car designs. We have put together a complete list of safest hatchbacks which have received a GNCAP rating.
Tata Tiago
Tata Tiago has received a safety rating of 4 stars. The Tata Tiago, has also got dual airbags, ABS with EBD and reverse parking cameras. The Global crash test report has also said that Tata Tiago offers good protection to the neck and head.
The body shell has been rated unstable and might be the reason why the Tata Tiago gets 4 not 5 stars in safety rating. In child safety it has got a 3 star rating. Know more about the new Tiago which has been spotted testing on Indian roads.
Tata Altroz
Next car is also from Tata but it is the Altroz which is in the premium hatchback segment. The Tata Altroz comes with ABS with EBD. It gets cornering stability and reverse parking cameras.
The cars scores 5 star rating in the crash test and is the safest in the segment. The Tata Altroz is also the cheapest premium hatchback in India which offers this amount of safety. The Turbo petrol version of the Altroz is expected soon and you can know about it here.
VW polo
The Polo gets a 4 star safety rating in the GNCAP test. Along with that the GNCAP states that the car provides good safety for the head and neck.
With this car the body shell was reported to be stable which means that it could withstand further load. This safety is good and teh VW polo has enough safety for the child occupant. It scores a 3 star rating there.
Figo/ Aspire
Ford Aspire here offers to gets a 3 star rating and hence it creeps in the list of safest hatchbacks. The build quality of the car is at par with the others in the list.
It gets ABS with EBD and the top model gets 6 airbags. The base model tested gets 2 airbags and that is why it gets lower safety rating. Never the less this is a car which brings the most affordable from Ford in a safe package.
