The upcoming Mahindra SUVs have been eluding us for some time. The release dates for the eKUV100, new-generation Scorpio and XUV500 have been postponed endlessly since the pandemic. Now we know that Mahindra plans to bring these cars one by one in the next year, starting in the first quarter with at least one car.   XUV500

One of these cars could be the new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 whose interiors have recently been spotted. Below is what we have been able to decipher from these pictures.

Front Row

In these spy shots we see the new car coming with a completely new dashboard, new steering wheel, new touchscreen and redesigned centre console. We can also see new colours and dual-tone combinations for the dashboard and seats.

Apart from the standard features in the cars there will be new additions like 3D panoramic vision feature, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging and autonomous braking/cruise control. Mahindra will want to load up the front row of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 interiors.

Second Row

The second row of the car will be spacious as before. There will be rear AC vents, charging sockets, controls for the Air Purifier and sunshades. The second row of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 interiors see here is with a 60:40 split. We expect a variant to come with captain seats too. The car will also get seven airbags apart from the other safety features that Mahindra will want to include to make the car’s safety rating strong.

To mention the third row seen here, it too will get features like AC vents and charging sockets but we feel the biggest update here could be if this row is now livable for adult passengers.

The 2021 XUV500 shall come along with 2 engine options. Petrol and diesel. The same engine options on the Thar, a 2-litre turbo mStallion GDi petrol engine and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will be seen here. On board XUV500, they will tuned accordingly with the cars front wheel drive setup. Gearbox options will include MT/AT and AWD like we saw on the current XUV500.

Launch Price and Competition

With the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 interiors spotted, we are expecting the car too be here in showrooms by Q1 2021. Pricing will go up significantly from the current generation car. This is expected to come with a lot more updates as mentioned above. Competition would include the Harrier/Gravitas, MG Hector/Hector Plus, Jeep Compass 7-seater and the upcoming Creta 7 seater.
