The sub-compact SUV segment is continuously evolving. With every new car launch in this segment,  manufacturers are providing something extra with their products. Facelifts and regular updates have also become the industry-norm. Recently Tata Nexon got a new variant added with the launch of competition. Maruti Vitara Brezza is the oldest product and needs a major overhaul. Find out in this story what are our expectations for the 2021 Maruti Brezza?

What is so good about Maruti Brezza’s petrol engine?

New Diesel engine

Suzuki Ciaz: Maruti Suzuki launches new 1.5-L DDiS 225 diesel engine, Auto News, ET Auto

For years, Maruti relied on its Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS turbo diesel motor which it used extensively for its entire diesel portfolio. The Vitara Brezza was available with the same engine which produced  88bhp and 200Nm of Torque. Maruti also had a 1.5-litre Diesel engine which produced 93bhp and 225Nm of torque in Ciaz. This engine was offered with a 6-speed manual. More about 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza expectations below.

Turbocharged petrol engine

2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza

The sub-compact SUV segment is also the crowd-favourite for turbocharged petrol engines. Maruti already had a 998cc Boosterjet petrol engine which produced 100bhp and 150Nm of torque in the Baleno RS. Maruti could make this engine BS6 compliant and launch a turbo petrol variant of the Maruti Brezza to keep up with the industry standards. Nexon, Venue and Sonet all have turbo-petrol engines on offer. Recently Maruti had hinted a revival of Baleno RS with the same engine and Brezza could get this engine as well.

New features

2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza

Both Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue have set the bar quite high about features provided in sub-compact SUV. To survive in this battle, Maruti may launch connected car tech with its upcoming Maruti Brezza. Wireless android auto and Apple Car Play along with wireless charging maybe the newly included features. Ambient lighting, air purifier and better sound system can be expected in the update. Maruti may not make any drastic changes as this is only a model year update of the SUV. More about 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza expectations below.

New Transmission

Maruti Suzuki CVT - CVT Transmission Cars

While the 5-speed manual gearbox will be available as usual, Maruti may provide DCT with the turbo-petrol engine. Both the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet turbo units come with DCT and Maruti may also follow. For the petrol and diesel engine, Maruti may provide a CVT transmission which is already in use in other Maruti products. We still do not know where Maruti will source this DCT from. We do know that Tata Altroz is set to launch with DCT quite soon.

Launch and Price

2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza

We expect the launch of the SUV sometime around Q1 2021. It will compete against all the major contenders in this segment, Nexon, Venue and Sonet being the major ones.  New engine options will increase the price as well as the overall variant count of the Maruti Vitara Brezza. Like the other cars in the segment, Maruti Brezza too will be available in 10+ variants which creates some confusion, but has something for everyone. Maruti Vitara Brezza when available with diesel engine was between Rs.7.12 lakh and Rs.10.59 lakh ex-showroom. The new facelift Maruti Vitara Brezza with BS6 petrol engine costs between Rs.7.34 lakh and Rs.11.40 lakh.

  • I need a maruti car breza top model , though I have alto K – 10 2015 model , but wished to get new one what is prize in Raipur

  • If at all Maruti is planning to bring out an all new Vitara Brezza, they must speed up as India is marching towards the final lap of the fossil fuel era…The earlier brezza lacks a major feature and that one is a second raw AC. Apart from the same the obsolete instrument cluster and the lack of SHVS powered Manual version is a major set back for the existing version. Hence an updation is highly necessary probably this year itself as Kiger, Nexon , Magnite, Sonet etc are becoming people’s choice.
