The carmaker unveiled its new range of turbo-petrol direct-injection (TGDI) engines at this year’s Auto Expo. The lineup includes three units – 1.2-litre, 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre – delivering power worth 130bhp with 230Nm, 163bhp with 280Nm and 190bhp with 380Nm respectively. Mahindra’s mStallion engines will be offered with an all-new 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Aisin. The Mahindra XUV300 Sportz will receive the 1.2L turbo-petrol motor that will initially be offered with a manual gearbox. The current 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine only produces 108bhp with 200Nm of torque.

Sportier Looks

Similar to the showcased model, the final version is likely to feature the Sportz moniker on front doors, new body graphics and red-finished front brake callipers. Unlike the standard model, the XUV300 Sportz will have all-black interior theme with sporty red contrast stitching on the seas and red highlights on the dashboard. Better Performance than Competition

The new engine will make the SUV more powerful (20bhp) and torquier (30Nm) than the standard model. In fact, it will be more powerful than its arch-rival – Hyundai Venue turbo-petrol – that returns a claimed power of 120bhp. That said, the XUV300 Sportz will be the most powerful car in its category with a slightly premium price tag.
