Maruti Nexa dealerships in India are known for their premium offering cars in our country. While Maruti Arena cars are mainly known for mileage and affordability, Nexa cars offer premium features and a far better ownership and customer experience. The  Maruti Ignis, Ciaz, XL6, Baleno and S-cross are the Nexa products sold currently. Find out below what to expect in the new Maruti XL5.

The Maruti WagonR has remained one of the most popular as well as the most selling car in its segment for a very long time now. While the tall boy design looks a little out-dated now, Indians are a fan of the great headroom provided by the car and how affordable it is.

Maruti XL5 rear 2

Maruti Suzuki has been testing a more premium version of the WagonR and it is likely to be called XL5. It will be sold through the premium Nexa dealership network of the brand and will offer premium cabin layout with some extra features compared to the WagonR.

Maruti Suzuki may also tweak the face of the vehicle following the same Ertiga-XL6 theme. Nexa cars come with advanced safety features from the base variant itself and the build quality of the car could also be improved in terms of interior fit and finish to keep up with the industry standards. The Maruti XL5 has already been spotted testing a couple of times in our country recently.

New Features

The new Maruti XL5 will come with new exterior features like LED DRLs, signature black alloy wheels, redesigned front bumper and other premium accessories attached to the front of the car. Projector headlamps and sleek roof-rails will also be the new inclusion. Expected interior features on the XL5 include Reverse parking camera, dual-zone climate control in the higher-spec, cruise control and connected car tech with the touchscreen infotainment system. Center armrest will also be available for the rear passengers along with adjustable headrests. Ambient lighting and air purifier can also be provided to keep up with the industry standards. Shark fin antenna, Auto-dimming IRVM, remote car start function and cooled glove box can be expected in the XL6. Taking India’s weather conditions into account, cooled seats can also be a logical inclusion but a feature that could be very expensive for the segment.

Engine and Performance

The Maruti XL5 may only come with a 1.2L petrol BS6 engine of the Maruti WagonR. The 1.2L/1197cc engine produces 81.80bhp/6000rpm and 113Nm/4200rpm with ARAI claimed mileage of 20.52km/l with 5-speed manual transmission. The same engine with the AMT transmission produces 21.79km/l(ARAI). The fuel efficiency of the Nexa product will be slightly lower due to the heavier weight of the car.

Variants and Safety

Nexa service 1

If the XL5 like the XL6 is a Nexa product, it will be available in Sigma, Alpha, Delta and Zeta variant. From the base variant itself the XL5 will come with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and other standard safety features. The new automatic transmission set to make an appearance in the Celerio may also be available with XL5. A dual-tone exterior colour option can also be expected from the new car.
