This SUV from Mahindra has scored a 5-star safety rating in the adult protection department and a 4-star rating in child protection.  The on-road price of the base variant Mahindra XUV300 in Mumbai is Rs.9.30 lakh which is perfectly under the Rs.10 lakh budget. 3) Tata Nexon

Still, the Tata Nexon is one of the safest SUVs according to GNCAP present on the Indian roads with a 5-star rating. Like all the other recent Tata cars it comes with the strong build quality and standard safety features from the base variant itself. Only a manual transmission is available with the car.

6) Maruti Vitara Brezza

While many mocked Maruti cars for their lightweight and unsafe cars, the Global NCAP tests of the Maruti Vitara Brezza proved otherwise. The sub-compact SUV from Maruti scored a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP tests which is quite decent. The build quality however can be still improved in the car. The base variant of the Maruti Vitara Brezza costs Rs.8.18 lakh on-road Mumbai.

It comes with safety features like ABS with EBD, Central locking, Child Safety locks, dual airbags, anti-theft alarm but sadly misses out on brake assist.  Day and Night Rearview mirror, Side and front impact beams, automatic headlamps and advanced safety features like Suzuki Heartect body, Reverse parking sensor and ISOFIX seats. Compared to the Nexon the SUV misses out on traction control and electronic stability control in the base variant.  The Toyota Urban Cruiser base variant also does not come with any additional safety features.
