Tata Hexa Safari edition was shown at the Auto Expo 2020. It was expected to launch by mid-2020 but the Covid-19 jumbled up the timeline of launched and we never saw the BS6 Tata Hexa in 2020. Now that only one month is left for 2020 we are expecting Tata to skip the launch for this year and directly come out with the Tata Hexa in 2021. Here are some spyshots of the 2021 Tata Hexa.

Why Discontinued?

The Tata Hexa was discontinued under the wake of BS6 emmision norms. The car has a diesel engine and tata focused more on getting their newer diesel products BS6 compliant rather than working on a old engine which was on Hexa. At that time, the rumour stated that the Hexa was gone forever but as it was shown in 2020 Auto Expo it comfrirmed that Tata will be bringing back the Hexa sometime later.

The uncertainity of the launch and the delay caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in no confirm launch date for the Tata Hexa. But as recently the car was spotted while doing test runs in without a camoflage it is expected that the car will be there with us for the year 2020. Take a look at what we have seen in the spyshots.

The SUV was spotted in Pune without any camoflage. It also had the 4×4 bagde as seen in the picture below. There are no visual changes to the Tata Hexa from the images. The steel wheels suggest that this is the base variant.

The design still remains to be heavily inspired by Impact Design philsophy. It also has bi-LED Projector lamp setup with a lot of chrome around it.

Internal changes expected

The main changes is supposed to be the engine which will be BS6 compliant. It should remain the 2.2 litre 4 cylinder engine because giving it the 2.0 litre kryotec engine on the Harrrier becomes like an over kill. Also the 2.2-litre was making 154 bhp in its BS4 version and that might be lowered a bit in the BS6. There would be 2 gearboxes one being an AMT. Previously there were 3 as there were 4×4 and 4×2 options available. Now the 2.2 litre engine is also seen at the Tata Yodha BS6 but that is a detuned version.

What is Safari Edition?

Now the car that has been spotted is not in Safari Green Edition Colour. If the Safari Edition is to come as the only Tata Hexa model as BS6 then it would be very similar to the car seen at the Auto Expo 2020. Take a look at the walkaround video of the same.

Harrier Camo edition has been recently launched and the Safari edtion might be somewhat on the same lines. Also Read – Tata Harrier Camo vs. Dark Edition in 2020.
