At the Guangzhou Motor Show in China, Jeep hosted the global premiere of the facelifted Compass and it will help in expanding the lifespan of the existing model into the near future. The American SUV specialist has certainly been serious with the updated model though as it gets a host of changes inside and out, and it will be interesting to see which all make it to India.

As was seen in the teaser images, the Jeep Compass facelift gets a completely updated interiors. A floating 10.1-inch touchscreen takes centre stage, below which are the new, slim AC vents and HVAC controls. The new touchscreen will come with FCA’s UConnect 5 infotainment system and is likely to feature integrated Amazon Alexa support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and can also receive over-the-air updates.

The Compass facelift’s dashboard features double-stitched leather inserts and brushed aluminium-like trim, which increase the premiumness of the SUV. The Compass facelift also gets a new three-spoke steering wheel and a large, full-digital instrument cluster. Of other things, the Compass facelift retains the light-grey leather seats and panoramic sunroof of the pre-facelift model.

The interior carries a light grey theme and it gets contrast orange accents in the middle of the dashboard in some variants. The centre console of the updated Jeep Compass is also new with revised gear lever area and wireless charging facility is also included. With the use of metallic accents and new switchgear layout, the premium nature of the SUV has also enhanced. More about New Jeep Compass Interiors below.

More about Jeep Compass in India

The Jeep Compass facelift is expected to launch in India only in 2021. However, production of the model is expected to start later this year, as Jeep Compass’ for all right-hand-drive markets in the world are produced at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.  Many new SUV launches are planned for 2021 and Jeep Compass will be a worthy contender.

There are new engines available abroad, the Compass facelift in India will continue to be powered by the old engine. A 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel and 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engines as the outgoing model. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual as standard, with the petrol getting the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel also gets a 9-speed torque converter. The Jeep Compass facelift will compete with the Hyundai Tucson and the Skoda Karoq in India.
