The Mahindra Scorpio next generation has already been spotted testing a couple of times in India as of now. The main feature of the next generation Mahindra Scorpio is that the new SUV is based on the next-generation Thar’s ladder-frame chassis. Mahindra Thar has already scored a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP tests so this chassis is pretty well built and sturdy. The launch of the SUV is expected sometime next year according to our sources. Mahindra in India are known for their SUVs and has one more SUV planned for next year.

2) Mahindra XUV500

Mahindra XUV500 is set to get an update soon and the test car has already been spotted a couple of times. The new Mahindra XUV500 will be more than a facelift of the car. The exteriors of the car will come with all modern offering that current-generation cars are famous for. The tough competition in the similar price range has made it compulsory for the company to provide something unique and attractive to the consumers. The new Mahindra XUV500 will come with exterior features like LED headlights, DRLs, new front grille and bumper, redesigned hood and overall structure. It is expected to launch by the end of Q1 2021.

3) Tata Gravitas

The Tata Gravitas will be a full-size SUV which will be launching quite soon. Design elements of Tata Gravitas are quite similar to the Harrier with the third row being a major difference. The sloping roof of the Harrier is also replaced by a taller and more MPV/SUV like roofline for third-row comfort. The car was first showcased in India during the Auto Expo 2020 in February.

The SUV is expected to go on sale sometime later this year.  Tata has already discontinued the Hexa and this new car will be placed above Harrier to become Tata’s flagship SUV. Also, take a look at the Tata Harrier who is the cousin of Landrover.

4) Maruti Jimny

The real-SUV segment in India does not have many rivals competing as of now. The Mahindra Thar which was recently launched is the only true contender in its segment. Force Gurkha is expected to make an appearance next year but people have been eagerly waiting for Maruti Jimny now. This small SUV has already begun production in India but is only exported. The manufacturer already showcased the car in Auto expo 2020 but did not confirm any launch date. When launched it will come with the same 1.5litre petrol engine and the Jimny in the international market has already proved to be a small, fun and capable offroad car.

5) Ford C-segment SUV

The mid-size SUV segment is also a pretty high selling segment in our country. Ford currently came in partnership with Mahindra and jointly they may launch a Ford SUV for this segment. The Hyundai Creta currently rules this segment, but Ford can change it for good. Ford C-Segment SUV (Kuga) is expected to come with a  2.0L TDCi diesel engine as well as a 1.6L EcoBoost engine that comes with an automatic PowerShift transmission system, a segment first.

The exterior and interiors of the SUV sport all the modern touches required in new-generation cars. Ford Kuga was initially set for a 2019 launch, but the novel Coronavirus pandemic has pushed back that date and the company could make the car available sometime in 2021.
