The seven-seater SUV segment does not have many contenders in India as of now. The Toyota Fortuner is the only authentic seven-seater SUV present in the Indian car market. Jeep Compass too has been doing quite well in India, facing tough competition from the rivals.  Jeep Compass is set to get a facelift/update very soon and it can be the seven-seater version of the famous SUV. Launch Date, Price and Rivals

Jeep India has still not confirmed any official date for the release of the Jeep Compass. However seeing that the company has started testing the car, the Jeep Compass seven-seater variant can be expected to launch end of 2021 or Q1 2022. When launched, it will compete against MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Tata Gravitas.

The car will also be competitively priced to serve as an interesting proposition. . The car is known as Jeep ‘Low-D’ internally and is being tested in Brazil before launch. The new car may be showcased early New Year in Brazil and subsequently to other markets.

Platform and Design

The new seven-seater Jeep Compass will share the monocoque platform but will come with larger dimensions to accommodate the third row of seats. We expect the wheelbase of the SUV to be extended too. Jeep Compass seven-seater will aim to provide better space utilization than rivals and utmost comfort in the segment.  The prototypes of the car which were spotted in Brazil looked quite similar to existing Jeep Compass.

The new SUV will surely come with additional cosmetic changes to help it stand out in the market. The rear doors are also expected to become longer to aid ingress-egress, while the rear styling will be quite different compared to the five-seater and the rear overhang will also be larger. The 7-seat Jeep Compass will come with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder Multijet turbo diesel engine from the existing Compass but with a different performance tuning. In the new SUV, it is expected to produce close to around 200hp. The engine is expected to come paired to the 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard considering its higher price point.
