Kia Sorento India – What Could it Rival in India?

Kia Sorento is a car that is expected next sometime in 2021. With 2 SUV and an MPV in the Market Kia is making its foot firm in the Indian market. In the global line-up Kia has the Sportage and Telluride but between them is the Kia Sorento. The Telluride is too big for India nad the Sportage might not be of a great benefit to bring to India and this makes Kia Sorento India a perfect pick.

What is the Kia Sorento?

Kia Sorento has been around since 2002 in Kia’s lineup and has been evolving in terms of size and performance. While the emission norms have downsized the engines the car has been proved to be a successful product for the Company. Kia Sorento India Rivals

For the main question of Rivals, the Sorento India would go head to head with the Jeep Compass. The price might be in the ballpark of Rs 20 to 35 lakhs. Now the product is not seen in India and there isn’t an idea on what all it will offer but it surely will be at par with the Jeep Compass.

Hyundai Tucson and the VW T-Roc are the current rivals to the Jeep in terms of price. But there are the Tata Harrier and the MG hector which offer the almost same performance car at a lower price. Kia will have to keep all this competition in mind before entering India.

Kia Sorento India Design

Sorento will do some addition to the design seen on the Kia Seltos. The tiger-nose grill is sure to be there and it will have sharper lines and creases to make it look aggressive. The car already has chrome surrounds on the windows and there is a decent amount of chrome as expected on any car in India. The most noticeable characteristic of the vehicle is forward sloping D-pillar and flared wheel arches.

The SUV does get LEDs all around and this is expected at this price point. The other thing that is expected from this segment is the engine and the Kia Sorento 2021 might not disappoint here too.

Engine Expectations

To keep the engine lineup unique and fuel effiecient and punchy at the same time it might introduce the 1.6-litre turbo petrol along with the hybrid tech. The petrol Hybrid makes a power of 230 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. But the more interesting engine would be the 2.2-litre diesel engine. Which is bigger than the rival and also makes much higher power at about 202 bhp and 440 Nm of torque.

Also, it is a 4WD system and the 8 speed Automatic might also keep it fuel-efficient on a long highway cruise. Lastly, Kia claims to have made the transmission lighter by 38 Kgs which is a great deal of weight-saving which might benefit in mileage.

Kia’s Most Futuristic Car

Kia Sorento India might get a 10-inch touch screen with Andriod Auto and apple car play. Also, there would be a heads up display and smartphone connectivity. It is expected to get ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems). Being the flagship model Kia will have to give it a slew of features just to keep it above other SUVs in the lineup.

The ADAS will include blind-spot monitoring, blind-spot collision avoidance assistance, cruise control, forward collision assist, and driver attention warning. In level 2 of the Autonomous driving technology that works in hand with lane the following assist. Now the level 2 of autonomous driving might be skipped for India but it includes a lot of features that might blow your mind. Premium features like 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and 12-speaker Bose surround sound system also make their way into the Sorento’s cabin.
