Yamaha MT-15 Now Gets 11 Combinations

India Yamaha has announced the launch of new colour customization option for the MT-15. This motorcycle is not seeing sales as expected and this is the move by Yamaha to make it somewhat appealing to the customers. Yamaha MT-15 colours have always been a place where there wasn’t much choice and so Yamaha might have decided to offer customization.

Existing colours

The MT-15 was available in 3 main colours after BS6. Ice Fluro-Vermilion was the latest addition and this might have been a testing ground for the colour customisation. Now under the Customize, your Warrier campaign customers can choose from 11 combinations. So are these 11 new colours?

No, there aren’t 11 Yamaha MT-15 colours instead there are 4 alloy wheel colours, 3 sticker colours and 3 base colours. Depending on the orders, will be produced by Yamaha and the deliveries will commence from the first month of 2021.

Price

This customisation will be over the standard 3 Yamaha MT-15 colours. The price of the bike is now at Rs 1.43 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). In this price the bike goes way above the segment. That is one of the reasons why the bike is not currently doing great sales. The more expensive R15 which uses the same engine and has a much more aggressive posture is seeing better sales than this.

Should you avail this offer?

Spending Rs 1.48 lakhs for this bike just because you want customization does not make sense. But if you are looking for performance in 160 premium naked bikes segment than this is the bike for you. The 155cc liquid-cooled engine is not available in any other bike and with the VVA it gets that extra top-end rideability.

If we have to compare this bike with its competitors then it would outshine them in terms of performance. But If we have to level the playing field then the Honda Hornet 2.0, Baja Pulsar NS 200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V could make the pricing and performance justified.
