A recent sighting of the Renault Zoe has indicated that the plan of bringing a small EV for India have been begun. The Renault Zoe EV was first spotted at the Auto Expo 2020. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming Renault Zoe EV.

Launch

This EV has been spotted for the first time in India. The image clearly indicates the TN number plates and we think that the car is a CKD model which has been bought to India for initial testing. The launch of the Renault Zoe EV in India won’t happen very immediately within the next few months. The Company is expected to test the car for a while and make a model that is suitable for India.

Being an Electric car the company will also have to work on the charging as the electric standards for India differs a bit. With EV the late they arrive in the market the better charging infrastructure they get. Currently, Renault does not have any EV offering making that Zoe their first EV in India. A lot of people were expecting the Kwid EV to take shape first but this new spy shot indicates otherwise.

Also, Renault internationally has a lot of EV in their lineup which includes Twizy, Kangoo and Master.

Renault Zoe Specifications

The Renault Zoe EV is expected to have a range of about 400km. This will also have ZE 50 lithium-ion battery with 52kWh form basis which gives its exceptional range. The battery will be connected to R135 electric motor which is Renault’s own development. This small car is expected to churn out 135 Bhp of power and 245 Nm of torque.

Design

To get a very clear idea about the design of the car takes a look at the walkaround of the Renault Zoe EV from the Auto Expo 2020. It has a tall boy design and it looks like an EV very prominently. The Renault Zoe makes use of the CMF-A platform which is also seen on the Kwid.

As you can see the model in the spy images is the pre-facelifted model. The car shown at the Auto Expo 2020 is the facelift and it is more likely that the facelift model will make it as the launch model.

Expectations

The Renault Zoe will have LED lights, 16-inch alloys, parking sensors at the front. The interiors are pretty basic and the car will have a minimalistic approach. The Renault Zoe sell for about Rs 18 lakhs in Dubai. If Reanult launches it in India then they will have to price it under Rs 15 lakhs. People won’t be ready to pay such a high amount for a car this small. Also, Tata Nexon EV has set some space to price standards for EV so it will be a tough pricing decision for Renault.

Rivals in the EV space are almost non-exisistant but by 2021 a lot of upcoming EVs like Altroz, XUV 300 while have a strong foothold in the EV space.
