The Head on rival of the MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas G4 is due for a facelift now. The full-size SUV which is actually a rebadged SsangYong Rexton G4 is getting a facelift. The leaked photos of the SsangYong Rexton confirm that. Take a closer look at the Mahindra Alturas G4 Facelift and also know about the other expectation about this SUV.

SsangYong Rexton

The Rexton G4 facelift is slated to be unveiled on November 4th. The facelift has dropped the G4 badging and it will be called Rexton only.

This is not a concern for India as it will be called as the Alturas G4 even after the 2020 facelift.

Mahindra Alturas G4 Facelift

Moving towards the images it gives us a deeper insight over what we should expect from the Mahindra Alturas G4 Facelift.

Exterior

The Mahindra Alturas G4 Facelift will get a new grille with a thick chrome edge. It will also have new LED headlights with D-shaped LED daytime running lights. There will also be a new setup for the foglamps which will be accommodated in the new redesigned bumper.

The side profile of the Alturas will remain the same but the alloy wheel design is expected to change. Further at the back new T-shaped LED taillamps along with the new bumper will make the car look bold yet premium. The badging position has been changed on the Rexton so that too is on the expectation list for the Mahindra.

Interior

Interior of the Alturas G4 will now be more premium. The major change to the driver’s eyes will be the 4-spoke steering wheel which also gets an all-digital instrument cluster. The current Alturas G4 gets an analogue metre which is due for an update to a digital in 2020.

Alturas G4

There could be an interior colour option available and also a dual-tone setup on offer too. The gear lever will have some change in its position and the older traditional gear lever will not be the same anymore.

Features

Mahindra Alturas G4 Facelift will have a lot of auto-driving features like handsfree parking, park assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and Collision avoid systems. These also enhance the safety of the people using the car and around it.

Structurally although this car will remain the same as it is only a 2020 facelift. The change of generation is not expected soon and we might not see it for a year now. Engine

Mahindra Alturas G4

The Mahindra Alturas G4 facelift is expected to get a BS6 compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine. It will make about 178 bhp of power and 420 Nm of torque. The SUV is susceptible for a change in the transmission department which might lead to an 8-speed transmission. The options of rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive will be kept available even after the facelift.

The Mahindra Alturas G4 Facelift will come to India as a CKD unit via Mahindra. The price expected is around Rs 30 lakh  and it will be competing with Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.

  • I am looking to buy Altrus current version or do you suggest to wait for the face lift? Dealers are giving good discounts but wondering to go are or buy new version. I feel this SUV is very refined and good to drive than Gloster /Endeavour / Fortuner
