Citroen has been slated for entry in India for a year now. The French car company has already been setting up their showrooms in Gujrat and other prime locations. While we were expecting Citroen Aircross C5 to be the first product for India, here is another Citroen MPV that has been spotted while on Test. Here is all that we expect from the upcoming Citroen MPV.
Although the name of the Citroen MPV was camouflaged we still expect Citroen to call it the Berlingo. This is a mid-segment MPV which we are expecting to compete with the like of Innova. The Citroen Berlingo is a leisure vehicle in the European market.
The Berlingo has priced approximately around 18.5 lakhs Rupees internationally. This price for India is too high for an MPV and Citroen will have to find a way to reduce it by manufacturing the vehicle here. Along with that Citroen has to understand that the market for MPV looking cars is very minimal.
The Toyota Innova which is the most popular MPV in India looks very striking and has been around for quite a long time. Also Innova is not a pure MPV and falls somewhere between SUV and MPV.
For Citroen MPV to shine in the Indian Market the company has to create trust in the market with its first product. It also looks like Citroen is following Kia’s footsteps by launching an SUV and then an MPV back to back.
What to expect?
The Citroen MPV as we can see in the spy shots gets sliding doors. We expect them to be automatic at this price point. The MPV focuses mainly on storage spaces and utility. It does not look sporty in any way and a VAN is the best way to describe it.
The signature Citroen grill and front bumper are there on the car. Length-wise the car is above 4 meters and this makes it fall in the B or C segment of cars. 2 engine options are expected on this car with 3 and 4 cylinder options. The power figures are not disclosed but the engines are 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre respectively. This vehicle will be either a 6 seater of 7 seater depending on the type of middle row seats.

Citroen MPV has not been announced by the company. It has been seen twice on the roads. We expect Citroen to mention it during the launch of the C5 Aircross SUV. Also we can see a Mahindra Thar on test in one of the Spyshots. More on that later. For more such content stay subscribed to the Motoroctane Youtube, Google NEWS, Facebook and Twitter.
