Maruti Vitara Brezza was an SUV launched only with a Diesel engine in India. In spite of this, it was fairly popular. With the advent of BS6, Maruti ditched all its Diesel engines and converted them into Petrol offerings. Find out below what is so good about Maruti Brezza’s petrol engine.

Great Fuel Efficiency

Maruti cars are known for their cheap price and best-in-segment fuel efficiency figures. While the K-series engine provides great performance as mentioned ahead, the fuel efficiency is something spectacular. To answer the age-old question of “Kitna Deti Hai?”, Maruti has mated the petrol engine with a mild-hybrid setup for both performance and efficiency.

SUVs with big engines are not very impressive in this parameter, but the Maruti Brezza returns 18.76kmpl for the Automatic variant and 17.03kmpl for Manual variant.  It is the only SUV in its segment with a mild hybrid system which assists the petrol engine in performance and also helps in great fuel efficiency.

Called Smart Hybrid, the mild hybrid setup also uses brake energy regeneration to keep the alternator charged during braking, further reducing the load on the engine and boosting fuel efficiency. The Smart Hybrid is only available in the automatic variant.

Reliable and Refined

Maruti’s 1.5L K-series engine is tried and tested for a very long time. The BS6-compliant Maruti Brezza engine produces ample torque at lower rpm, thus keeping the engine stress-free and increasing the overall life of the SUV.  The big engine also does not make any noise for its size, because it does not need to break a sweat to power the car.  138Nm of torque promises you instant overtaking powers in highway and city roads. 103bhp of power also promises great overall performance.  The well-balanced gear ratios in both manual and automatic transmission promise fatigue-free driving.
