Toyota Innova Crysta Safety Gets 5 Stars

Recently ASEAN NCAP tests the Toyota Hilux for the crash test norms. That test concluded that the new-gen Toyota Fortuner too gets a 5-star safety rating. Now they have also tested the Toyota Innova Crysta Safety and that too has scored a full 5-star rating. Here is a closer look at the details of the test.

Toyota Innova Frontal Impact

The ASEAN NCAP crash test is divided into 2 major tests – the frontal impact and side impact. The frontal impact test was conducted by ASEAN NCAP at their centre and the side impact test was done by Toyota at their in-house testing facility.

In the test, the Toyota Innova Crysta Safety scores are 45.9 for adult occupant safety. The child occupant gets 21.51. ASEAN NCAP also gives the Innova 15.28 for safety assist technologies. The Innova gets a total score of 82.69 which amounts to a 5-star rating.

The Toyota Innova and Fortuner share the same ladder-frame chassis which gives them these safety features.

Safety Features

The Safety features of the Toyota Innova include ABS along with electronic brakeforce distribution. It also gets an electronic stability program. The facelifted Toyota Innova does not have structural changes. So the crash test results remain constant.

Toyota Innova India

Toyota recently upgraded the powertrains in the Indian markets to meet BS6 norms. With the upcoming Innova for 2020, we do not expect any engine and transmission changes. It will have a 2.7-litre petrol engine that makes about 166bhp of power and peak torque of 245 Nm. The Diesel engine is a 2.4-litre turbo unit which makes max power of 150bhp and peak torque of 343 Nm. It comes with both automatic and manual transmission.
